At the moment it does not look so pretty. A bit of rust on the head, not so nicely shaped lacquered handle, with red paint to prevent splitting on the butt of the handle. But as you can see with a bit of touch up it will be a nice looking gennou. The handle material is Japanese white oak, so it polishes quite well. It has traditional Japanese head, with one side flat and the other slightly convexed to sink the nail head.
